Back (pack) to School Night at Mt Lawn

This Saturday night July 20th will be the Van Hoy Oil back to school night at the Mt Lawn Speedway located 5 miles west of New Castle.  Van Hoy Oil is owned and operated by Jeff VanHoy of Knightstown and has been longtime and loyal supporter of racing at Mt Lawn as well as other venues across Central Indiana.  Event coordinator Rita Hinshaw has over 200 backpacks with school supplies inside of them for the kids in attendance.  The backpack giveaway is scheduled to take place immediately after the second feature race of the evening, approximately 8:45 – 9:00.  All the kids have to do is get in line at the designated area to receive their backpack. Many of the drivers will be involved in passing out the packs.

Racing for the evening will consist of Modifieds, Crown Vics, Stock Compacts and Pro Compacts.  There will be heats and features in all four divisions.  The pit gate will open at 2:00 with practice starting at 4:00.  Group qualifying will take place soon after practice followed by the invocation and National Anthem at 6:55.  Racing gets underway promptly at 7:00.

Ticket prices are $10 with children 8 and under free.

Mt Lawn is located at 1494 S CR 400 W five miles west of New Castle.
